Live Stock Handling

Course Objectives:

• Learn about the safe systems of working with livestock
• Move a pen of cattle or sheep from one location to another in a safe and efficient manner
• Load animals onto a trailer in a safe and stress-free manner.
• Catch a restrained animal and demonstrate how to dose and inject the animals correctly
• Be aware of the withdrawal times for meat and milk for different products.
• Risk assessment of handling 
• Be aware of how to protect oneself from Zoonotic diseases by using correct PPE

• Livestock behaviour and welfare
• rescuing livestock, including the extraction and containment of livestock 
• livestock handling and transport, including species-specific requirements
• protocols and procedures for use of the Livestock Handling Equipment 
• protocols and procedures for disaster control
